A NOTE FROM OUR REGIONAL DIRECTOR:
Region 8 members and guests,
I am pleased to announce that the registration for the 2025 Region 8 Spring Championship is now open! The tournament will be held on Saturday March 22nd at Oxford Area High School in Oxford, PA. The championship competition is open to all ranks from Tiny Tigers/Little Dragons to 3rd degree Black Belt.
At this year’s championship we will have a synchronized hyung competition for Gup students and the Black Belts will compete in a Bunhae style competition. The Bunhae competition consists of synchronized hyung, along with applications demonstrated. Both gup and dan teams will compete as 3 member teams, with 1 team being eligible from each studio.
I hope to see you all at our Spring Championship, whether you are competing, volunteering to judge, or assisting in some other area. It is all of us doing a small part that makes these events great. In addition to a great weekend of competition, our championship is also about camaraderie. I encourage anyone who is planning to compete to invite a classmate or a friend to come and experience it for themselves. See you on March 22nd! Tang Soo!
Sincerely,
Master Philip J. Geiter
Director - Region 8

We are excited to bring back team hyung for our gup students and a new addition, Team Bunhae, or form application for our dan competitors. Bunhae is a Korean word that means "to dissect, break apart and analyze". Teams of 3 are challenged to perform a hyung and choose 3 moves from it to demonstrate to the judges their interpretation of the movements.
